one hot breath of words
and poets and lovers
set my soul afire
one hot breath of words
and poets and lovers
set my soul afire
she shimmies out of
her bangles and fringe — strips down
to herself and sleeps
fading memories
disguised as grainy movies
flicker black and white
fiery sun melts
into pink afterglows
mountaintop kisses
nature tucks away
answers to unasked questions
waiting for seekers
if we end up on
the last train to normalcy
jump off with me
(for my fellow poets)
climb out of a rut
roam the shimmering expanse
of life and wonder
seduced by your charms
hostage to your dark pleasures
morning coffee
wisdom cobbled from
long journeys on ancient paths
enlightenment
flames of one soul
ignite the souls of others
extending their wicks
brush away the sand
of summer — spread blankets
of soft autumn leaves
even before
his buttery caress
i melted
get up and dance
feel the music for yourself
who else cares
payday
how swiftly the rise and fall
of a bank balance
a cat watches, waits
on a green rug isle of mist
while his mistress bathes
grandma’s journal
leaves pressed between pages
slide down with a tear
nighttime run
racing my shadow
in passing headlights
in pink flowered boots
the toddler laughs at the
gray crying sky
draped in a hammock
drenched in the leaf-mottled
warmth of the sun
jacket pockets
stuffed with love
to give away
